FOODS ARE WORST FOR YOUR SKIN;
Dermatologists often say “Skin is
the reflection of body health” and there’s good reason for it because whatever
you eat shows up on your skin.
It’s no secret that the quality of
your diet is reflected in the quality of your skin – for better or for worse.
And if you keep eating unhealthy
food, it will certainly harm your skin.
Why is it you ask?
Well, your liver’s job is to filter out toxins from your body but when you eat junk food, your liver becomes overloaded with toxins.
And an overloaded liver cannot
function properly.
In such a scenario, the liver hands
over the job to other organs like the skin.
When the toxins start to get
eliminated through your skin it leads to various skin issues like dryness,
acne, blemishes and the list goes on.
In today’s article, we will tell you
the worst foods for your skin.
From Agave, Sushi, Dairy, White
Bread to Juices and more.
1. Canned Soup
Packaged soup – in powdered form or
in cans – has made things so much easier for busy moms.
Just heat them up and you have a
warm, calming meal at hand.
However, please be warned: canned
soup is full of sodium and bisphenol.
These are things that make your skin
retain water and look bloated and dry.
Canned soup can also cause problems
with hormones which is one of the top causes of skin-related issues.
2. Chips
This one is not really a surprise – that bag of carb-rich, greasy chips many of us love indulging in as a snack is not really healthy.
But we don’t mean just physical
health or cholesterol-related problems but also skin health.
Chips made of processed
carbohydrates turn to sugar in the body, and this causes a spike in your
insulin levels.
As per experts, more insulin means
you have a greater acne risk.
Not just that, such chips are
usually made with pro-inflammatory oils such as canola oil or vegetable oils.
These oils have a direct relation to
triggering acne.
3. Caffeine
Caffeinated drinks cause dehydration
and will deplete your skin of its vital nutrients.
When skin is dehydrated and dry,
it’s natural elasticity and collagen is affected, causing it to become more
prone to sagging and wrinkles.
This doesn’t mean you can’t treat
yourself.
Just make sure to drink the
recommended eight glasses of water daily to keep your body and skin hydrated.
Sugar: Inflammation is a major
factor in acne and sugar is one of the biggest inflammation triggers you could
possibly have in your diet.
This alone makes it one of the worst
foods for your skin.
Sugar causes a spike in your insulin
levels, setting off both inflammation and sebum production.
The result is inflamed, oily skin
that’s at a high risk for a breakout.
I wouldn’t say you should go totally
sugar-free but definitely look for ways to eat less.
For Women, If you want to prevent
those monthly flare-ups around the chin area, make sure to curb your sugar
cravings the days before you get your period.
4. Peanut Products
They may seem like the perfect
high-protein snack, but peanuts also contain androgens that encourage sebum
production.
That leads to oily skin and more
blocked pores.
For healthy skin, skip the peanuts, peanut butter, peanut oil, and other peanut-based foods in your diet and replace it with almonds, walnuts or any other healthy nut mixes.
5. Dairy
If you’ve noticed pizza, milkshakes,
and some of your other favorite fast foods seem to leave you with blemishes,
there’s a reason.
That reason is often dairy.
Milk contains hormones that throw
off your body’s natural hormonal balance, setting the stage for inflamed and
cystic acne.
This is true of all milk and dairy
products, so choosing organic or low-fat milk won’t help your case.
We would recommend replacing your
dairy intake with other healthier alternatives such as almond milk, coconut
milk or other vegetable based protein supplements.
6. Alcohol
While moderate alcohol has its
benefits, studies suggest that regularly drinking causes your skin to wrinkle
quickly.
One study concluded that high
alcohol consumption makes people 33 percent more likely to age visibly.
In particular, alcohol forms gray
rings around peoples’ eyes.
Some people also experience a face
flush after drinking.
Over time, this flushing can break
blood vessels and wrinkle the skin.
This damage may be caused by blood
vessels dilating near the skin’s surface.
To prevent this side effect, drink plenty of water along with your alcohol.
7. White Bread
White bread is loaded with carbs and
it’s no secret that too many carbs can negatively impact your health.
But recent research suggests that it
can also worsen your skin.
In particular, a high glycemic
index–a diet with high amounts of refined grains–causes more acne.
This correlation may be more visibly
apparent than dairy’s effect on acne, according to studies.
After covering almost 60 studies, a
scientific study concluded that refined grains trigger more breakouts.
The researchers clarify that chips,
cereals, bread, and cookies are the main culprits.
To prevent more pimples, resort to
whole grains whenever possible.
8. Margarine
While fats are essential for
maintaining supple skin, they’re not all created equal.
And some, like the Trans fats often
found in margarine, may dehydrate your skin.
A study found that higher intake of
margarine was associated with increased skin wrinkling.
9. Juices
Who doesn't love juice?
Especially when it's considered to
be so much healthier than soda.
Juices contain just as much sugar as
soda does, and this sugar breaks down collagen in your skin and makes it rough.
They also lack fiber and this means
that what you're drinking isn't providing your skin with the necessary
nutrients.
Lemon juice mask lovers are prone to
a potential chemical burn.
If you go out in the sun, the lemon
juice can permanently damage your skin.
10. Whey Protein
When you’re trying to shed weight or
build muscle, a bodybuilding pal might suggest you try whey protein to keep you
fuller longer.
Though it may work to help you reach
your target physique, it could also make your skin break out.
The problem with whey is that it
contains an insulin-like growth factor that stimulates your body’s production
of insulin and androgens.
The increased insulin and androgen
production increases sebum production in the skin, resulting in acne.
If you want to keep digesting whey
as part of your diet, try switching to non-milk protein to alleviate your acne.
And if that doesn’t work?
You might have to break this habit
altogether.
11. Deep Fried Foods
Deep frying really any food can make
it taste incredible.
But it’s going to wreak havoc on
your skin.
Deep fried foods lead to excess oil
production within the skin.
No one wants the oil from their food
showing up on their face.
But the dangers don’t stop there.
Hydrogenated Trans fats found in
deep fried food will also have a negative impact on your complexion leading to
a dull looking skin.
12. Shellfish
Shrimp, crab, lobster-and also
certain leafy greens like seaweed and spinach-are naturally high in iodine.
But a diet with too much of this
element can lead to acne.
However these breakouts are based on
an accumulated amount of iodine over time.
So there's no relationship between
eating high iodine foods one day and breaking out the next.
Instead, if you are particularly
acne-prone, eat these foods a couple of times a month rather than a couple of
times a week.
13. Agave
Agave is one of the trendiest sugar
alternatives on the market.
But apparently, the two are not so
different.
Agave is composed of more fructose
than high-fructose corn syrup.
This not only puts a strain on your
liver, but also breaks down collagen faster than glucose and other sugars
causing skiing problems.
14. Processed Meats
When you wake up to puffy, swollen
skin, take inventory on yesterday’s meals to see if you ate a lot of salt.
This includes restaurant foods or
processed foods, which can pack a sneaky, high sodium content.
Processed meats such as bacon, and
cured meats such as chicken done in a brine, contain sodium, which can lead to
water retention and can cause swelling and puffiness in your face.
Studies also suggest sodium
nitrates, which are a preservative added to many processed foods, can break
down collagen and elastin and may cause signs of premature aging.
15. Chocolate
Chocolate is one of the foods that
may trigger acne, according to results from some studies.
Cocoa was considered the main
culprit but one of the studies showed that people who ate chocolate containing
10 times the amount of cocoa were no more likely to get breakouts than those
who ate chocolate containing regular amounts of cocoa.
Choosing dark chocolate to manage
acne may be a better choice since it has less milk and sugar.
Dark chocolate has many more
benefits apart from being good for your skin.

Your Body” to find out what they are.
Now back to the worst foods for your
skin.
16. Sushi
Did you know that this delicacy leads
to premature aging and causes acne?
First, your favorite rolls contain a
large amount of salt, one of our health's worst enemies, and this can lead to
dehydrated and dull skin.
Second, salty food makes cells
retain fluid, which makes your face puffy.
Third, rice is high on the glycemic
index and it can take away moisture and circulation from the epidermis, causing
dry skin and premature aging.
Julianne Moore was the first to call
this phenomenon "sushi face."
